Zuppke, we will try and anticipate the investment in time and money that will be required to resolve your case, and structure a fee that makes sense to us both.  Sometimes this is called a sliding scale.  Under this type of arrangement, we may agree to accept a lower fee if your case is resolved without a substantial amount of work, and even less if it is settled before a lawsuit is started.
