Michigan moped FAQs:
What is the legal definition of a moped in Michigan? According to the Michigan moped law:
A moped is a 2 to 3 wheeled motor vehicle that:
- Does not exceed 100 cc piston displacement
- Does not have a gearshift
- Will max out at 30 mph on a level surface
All other vehicles that don’t meet the above criteria must be registered and titled as a Michigan motorcycle. Remember, your moped must still be registered at the Secretary of State, unless you’re exclusively operating on your own private property.
